Linda Joy and I are pleased to announce that we are refining our course to be memoir-specific. After much good feedback and a general sense of feeling more aligned to our passion of serving memoirists, we have reconceptualized the course to be tailored specifically to memoirists and the unique challenges that they face. And we couldn’t be happier.
Linda Joy, founder and president of the National Association of Memoir Writers, has been a tireless advocate of the power of memoir to heal and give voice to personal story, setting writers free from being silenced, and helping others to own their story and offer it as a legacy to the world. The author of three books, Linda Joy started NAMW as a way to offer support, skills, and inspiration to memoir writers and guide them on their journey to become published authors.
Brooke has worked on countless memoirs over the course of her thirteen-year career as an acquiring editor, and she considers herself privileged to have had the opportunity to work through the joy, tumult, and deep digging that memoir requires of its students.
Both of us are passionate about memoir. We live and breathe it, and feel the power of personal story in our bones. There is no other genre that requires so much of its authors, and which in turn gives quite so much personal satisfaction (as well as anxiety!!). We have been honored to shepherd memoirists through the completion and publication of their books, and we are happy that together we have come to the realization that we will best serve our students by attending to this genre that we both so love and respect.
Cheers to following your heart!
